What is gpgv

gpgv is:

GnuPG is GNU’s tool for secure communication and data storage.

gpgv is actually a stripped-down version of gpg which is only able to check signatures. It is somewhat smaller than the fully-blown gpg and uses a different (and simpler) way to check that the public keys used to make the signature are valid. There are no configuration files and only a few options are implemented.

There are three methods to install gpgv on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gpgv Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gpgv using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gpgv

Install gpgv Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gpgv using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gpgv

Install gpgv Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gpgv using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gpgv

How To Uninstall gpgv on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the gpgv package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gpgv

Uninstall gpgv And Its Dependencies

To uninstall gpgv and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gpgv

Remove gpgv Configurations and Data

To remove gpgv configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gpgv

Remove gpgv configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gpgv configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gpgv
