How To Install gpgrt-tools on Ubuntu 20.04

What is gpgrt-tools
gpgrt-tools is:
gpgrt (also known as libgpg-error) defines common error values, messages, and common runtime functionality for all GnuPG components. Among these are GPG, GPGSM, GPGME, GPG-Agent, libgcrypt, pinentry, SmartCard Daemon and possibly more in the future.
This package contains yat2m, a Texinfo to nroff/troff converter useful for building manpages, and gpg-error, a binary for deciphering GnuPG/libgcrypt error codes.
There are three methods to install gpgrt-tools on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gpgrt-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gpgrt-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gpgrt-tools
Install gpgrt-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gpgrt-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gpgrt-tools
Install gpgrt-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gpgrt-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gpgrt-tools
How To Uninstall gpgrt-tools on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the gpgrt-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gpgrt-tools
Uninstall gpgrt-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gpgrt-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gpgrt-tools
Remove gpgrt-tools Configurations and Data
To remove gpgrt-tools configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gpgrt-tools
Remove gpgrt-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gpgrt-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gpgrt-tools
