How To Install gom on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gom on Kali Linux.
What is gom
gom is:
gom is a command line mixer utility with optional built-in ncurses interactive interface.
Its main feature is an exhaustive command line interface that makes it ideal for scripting (e.g. for audio recording, running at user and/or system login time, setting/restoring of settings, etc).
It supports OSS only, so if you want to use it with ALSA, you will need its OSS-compatible modules. If you want to use all possible features of ALSA however, you would need to use a mixer program dedicated for ALSA.
There are three methods to install gom on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gom Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gom using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gomInstall gom Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gom using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gomInstall gom Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gom using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gomHow To Uninstall gom on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gom package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gomUninstall gom And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gom and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gomRemove gom Configurations and Data
To remove gom configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gomRemove gom configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gom configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gomDependencies
