How To Install goaccess on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install goaccess
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is goaccess
goaccess is:
Displays fast and valuable HTTP statistics for system administrators that require a visual report on the fly.
The collected information will be displayed to the user (sysadmin) in a visual/interactive window. Collected information includes:
-General Statistics, Bandwidth etc. -Top Visitors -Requested files -Requested static files, images, swf, js, etc. -Referrers URLs -404 or Not Found -Operating Systems -Browsers and Spiders -Hosts, Reverse DNS, IP Location -HTTP Status Codes -Referring Sites -Unlimited log file size
GoAccess can parse both of Apaches’ log formats, the Common Log Format and the Combined Log Format
There are three methods to install goaccess
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install goaccess Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install goaccess
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install goaccess
Install goaccess Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install goaccess
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install goaccess
Install goaccess Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install goaccess
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install goaccess
How To Uninstall goaccess on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the goaccess
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove goaccess
Uninstall goaccess And Its Dependencies
To uninstall goaccess
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove goaccess
Remove goaccess Configurations and Data
To remove goaccess
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge goaccess
Remove goaccess configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove goaccess
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge goaccess
