How To Install goaccess on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install goaccess on Kali Linux.
What is goaccess
goaccess is:
Displays fast and valuable HTTP statistics for system administrators that require a visual report on the fly.
The collected information will be displayed to the user (sysadmin) in a visual/interactive window. Collected information includes:
-General Statistics, Bandwidth etc. -Top Visitors -Requested files -Requested static files, images, swf, js, etc. -Referrers URLs -404 or Not Found -Operating Systems -Browsers and Spiders -Hosts, Reverse DNS, IP Location -HTTP Status Codes -Referring Sites -Unlimited log file size
GoAccess can parse both of Apaches’ log formats, the Common Log Format and the Combined Log Format
There are three methods to install goaccess on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install goaccess Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install goaccess using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install goaccessInstall goaccess Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install goaccess using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install goaccessInstall goaccess Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install goaccess using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install goaccessHow To Uninstall goaccess on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the goaccess package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove goaccessUninstall goaccess And Its Dependencies
To uninstall goaccess and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove goaccessRemove goaccess Configurations and Data
To remove goaccess configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge goaccessRemove goaccess configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove goaccess configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge goaccessDependencies
