How To Install go-internal on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install go-internal
on Kali Linux.
What is go-internal
go-internal is:
The go-internal repository factors out an opinionated selection of internal packages and functionality from the Go standard library. Currently this consists mostly of packages and testing code from within the Go tool implementation.
Included are the following:
- dirhash: calculate hashes over directory trees the same way that the Go tool does.
- goproxytest: a GOPROXY implementation designed for test use.
- gotooltest: Use the Go tool inside test scripts (see testscript below).
- imports: list of known architectures and OSs, and support for reading import statements.
- modfile: read and write go.mod files while preserving formatting and comments.
- module: module paths and versions.
- par: do work in parallel.
- semver: semantic version parsing.
- testenv: information on the current testing environment.
- testscript: script-based testing based on txtar files.
- txtar: simple text-based file archives for testing.
This package contains the compiled binaries, namely testscript, txtar-addmod, txtar-c and txtar-goproxy.
There are three methods to install go-internal
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install go-internal Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install go-internal
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install go-internal

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install go-internal
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install go-internal
Install go-internal Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install go-internal
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install go-internal
How To Uninstall go-internal on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the go-internal
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove go-internal
Uninstall go-internal And Its Dependencies
To uninstall go-internal
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove go-internal
Remove go-internal Configurations and Data
To remove go-internal
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge go-internal
Remove go-internal configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove go-internal
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge go-internal
