How To Install gnunet-gtk on Ubuntu 18.04

What is gnunet-gtk
gnunet-gtk is:
GNUnet is a framework for secure peer-to-peer networking that does not use any centralized or otherwise trusted services. Its high-level goal is to provide a strong free software foundation for a global network that provides security and in particular respects privacy.
GNUnet started with an idea for anonymous censorship-resistant file-sharing, but has grown to incorporate other applications as well as many generic building blocks for secure networking applications. In particular, GNUnet now includes the GNU Name System, a privacy-preserving, decentralized public key infrastructure.
This package contains the graphical client, using the GTK+ toolkit. In order use GNUnet, you also need gnunet either on your server or on your local machine.
There are three methods to install gnunet-gtk
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gnunet-gtk Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gnunet-gtk
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gnunet-gtk
Install gnunet-gtk Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gnunet-gtk
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gnunet-gtk
Install gnunet-gtk Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gnunet-gtk
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gnunet-gtk
How To Uninstall gnunet-gtk on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the gnunet-gtk
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gnunet-gtk
Uninstall gnunet-gtk And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gnunet-gtk
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gnunet-gtk
Remove gnunet-gtk Configurations and Data
To remove gnunet-gtk
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gnunet-gtk
Remove gnunet-gtk configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gnunet-gtk
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gnunet-gtk
