What is gnumed-common

gnumed-common is:

This is the GNUmed Electronic Medical Record. Its purpose is to enable doctors to keep a medically sound record on their patients’ health. Currently it is not fully featured. The features provided are, however, tested, in use, and considered stable. This package does NOT yet provide functionality for billing and stock keeping.

While the GNUmed team has taken the utmost care to make sure the medical records are safe at all times you still need to make sure you are taking appropriate steps to backup the medical data to a safe place at appropriate intervals. Do test your backup and disaster recovery procedures, too !

This package contains the files which are common to client and server.

There are three methods to install gnumed-common on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gnumed-common Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gnumed-common using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gnumed-common

Install gnumed-common Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gnumed-common using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gnumed-common

Install gnumed-common Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gnumed-common using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gnumed-common

How To Uninstall gnumed-common on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the gnumed-common package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gnumed-common

To uninstall gnumed-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gnumed-common

Remove gnumed-common Configurations and Data

To remove gnumed-common configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gnumed-common

Remove gnumed-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gnumed-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gnumed-common
