How To Install gnome-split on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is gnome-split
gnome-split is:
Tool that allows you to split files and merge them back. It is written in Java and uses a GTK+ user interface (thanks to the java-gnome project). The goal is to offer a native implementation of similar projects which can handle multiple file formats (e.g. Xtremsplit).
There are three methods to install gnome-split
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gnome-split Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gnome-split
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gnome-split

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gnome-split
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gnome-split
Install gnome-split Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gnome-split
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gnome-split
How To Uninstall gnome-split on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the gnome-split
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gnome-split
Uninstall gnome-split And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gnome-split
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gnome-split
Remove gnome-split Configurations and Data
To remove gnome-split
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gnome-split
Remove gnome-split configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gnome-split
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gnome-split
