How To Install gnome-software on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gnome-software on Kali Linux.
What is gnome-software
gnome-software is:
Software lets you install and update applications and system extensions.
Software uses a plugin architecture to separate the frontend from the technologies that are used underneath. Currently, a PackageKit plugin provides data from a number of traditional packaging systems, such as rpm or apt. An appdata plugin provides additional metadata from locally installed data in the appdata format.
There are three methods to install gnome-software on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gnome-software Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gnome-software using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gnome-softwareInstall gnome-software Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gnome-software using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gnome-softwareInstall gnome-software Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gnome-software using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gnome-softwareHow To Uninstall gnome-software on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gnome-software package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gnome-softwareUninstall gnome-software And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gnome-software and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gnome-softwareRemove gnome-software Configurations and Data
To remove gnome-software configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gnome-softwareRemove gnome-software configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gnome-software configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gnome-softwareDependencies
