How To Install gnash-cygnal on Ubuntu 18.04

What is gnash-cygnal
gnash-cygnal is:
GNU Gnash is a free GPL’d SWF player. It runs as a standalone application on either the desktop or embedded devices, or may be used as a plugin for several popular browsers. It supports playing media from a disk or streaming over a network connection.
GNU Gnash is based on GameSWF and supports most SWF v7 features and some SWF v8 and v9. SWF v10 is not supported by GNU Gnash.
Included in the Gnash is an XML based messaging system, as specified in the SWF specification. This lets a SWF animation communicate over a TCP/IP socket, and parse the incoming XML message. This lets an animation be a remote control for other devices or applications.
Cygnal is Gnash’s media server.
There are three methods to install gnash-cygnal on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gnash-cygnal Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gnash-cygnal using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gnash-cygnal
Install gnash-cygnal Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gnash-cygnal using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gnash-cygnal
Install gnash-cygnal Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gnash-cygnal using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gnash-cygnal
How To Uninstall gnash-cygnal on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the gnash-cygnal package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gnash-cygnal
Uninstall gnash-cygnal And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gnash-cygnal and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gnash-cygnal
Remove gnash-cygnal Configurations and Data
To remove gnash-cygnal configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gnash-cygnal
Remove gnash-cygnal configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gnash-cygnal configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gnash-cygnal
