In this tutorial we learn how to install glusterfs-rdma on CentOS 7.

What is glusterfs-rdma

GlusterFS is a distributed file-system capable of scaling to several petabytes. It aggregates various storage bricks over Infiniband RDMA or TCP/IP interconnect into one large parallel network file system. GlusterFS is one of the most sophisticated file systems in terms of features and extensibility. It borrows a powerful concept called Translators from GNU Hurd kernel. Much of the code in GlusterFS is in user space and easily manageable. This package provides support to ib-verbs library.

We can use yum or dnf to install glusterfs-rdma on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install glusterfs-rdma.

Install glusterfs-rdma on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install glusterfs-rdma using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install glusterfs-rdma

Install glusterfs-rdma on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install glusterfs-rdma using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install glusterfs-rdma

How To Uninstall glusterfs-rdma on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the glusterfs-rdma package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove glusterfs-rdma
