How To Install glusterfs-common on Ubuntu 18.04

What is glusterfs-common
glusterfs-common is:
GlusterFS is a clustered file-system capable of scaling to several petabytes. It aggregates various storage bricks over Infiniband RDMA or TCP/IP interconnect into one large parallel network file system. GlusterFS is one of the most sophisticated file system in terms of features and extensibility. It borrows a powerful concept called Translators from GNU Hurd kernel. Much of the code in GlusterFS is in userspace and easily manageable.
This package includes libglusterfs and glusterfs translator modules common to both GlusterFS server and client framework.
There are three methods to install glusterfs-common on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install glusterfs-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install glusterfs-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install glusterfs-common
Install glusterfs-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install glusterfs-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install glusterfs-common
Install glusterfs-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install glusterfs-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install glusterfs-common
How To Uninstall glusterfs-common on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the glusterfs-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove glusterfs-common
Uninstall glusterfs-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall glusterfs-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove glusterfs-common
Remove glusterfs-common Configurations and Data
To remove glusterfs-common configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge glusterfs-common
Remove glusterfs-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove glusterfs-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge glusterfs-common
