What is glusterfs-client-xlators

GlusterFS is a distributed file-system capable of scaling to several petabytes. It aggregates various storage bricks over Infiniband RDMA or TCP/IP interconnect into one large parallel network file system. GlusterFS is one of the most sophisticated file systems in terms of features and extensibility. It borrows a powerful concept called Translators from GNU Hurd kernel. Much of the code in GlusterFS is in user space and easily manageable. This package provides the translators needed on any GlusterFS client.

We can use yum or dnf to install glusterfs-client-xlators on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install glusterfs-client-xlators.

Install glusterfs-client-xlators on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install glusterfs-client-xlators using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install glusterfs-client-xlators

Install glusterfs-client-xlators on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install glusterfs-client-xlators using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install glusterfs-client-xlators

How To Uninstall glusterfs-client-xlators on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the glusterfs-client-xlators package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove glusterfs-client-xlators
