How To Install glusterfs on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install glusterfs on CentOS 7.
What is glusterfs
GlusterFS is a distributed file-system capable of scaling to several petabytes. It aggregates various storage bricks over Infiniband RDMA or TCP/IP interconnect into one large parallel network file system. GlusterFS is one of the most sophisticated file systems in terms of features and extensibility. It borrows a powerful concept called Translators from GNU Hurd kernel. Much of the code in GlusterFS is in user space and easily manageable. This package includes the glusterfs binary, the glusterfsd daemon and the libglusterfs and glusterfs translator modules common to both GlusterFS server and client framework.
We can use yum or dnf to install glusterfs on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install glusterfs.
Install glusterfs on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install glusterfs using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install glusterfs
Install glusterfs on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install glusterfs using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install glusterfs
How To Uninstall glusterfs on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the glusterfs package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove glusterfs
