What is glibc-headers

The glibc-headers package contains the header files necessary for developing programs which use the standard C libraries (which are used by nearly all programs). If you are developing programs which will use the standard C libraries, your system needs to have these standard header files available in order to create the executables. Install glibc-headers if you are going to develop programs which will use the standard C libraries.

We can use yum or dnf to install glibc-headers on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install glibc-headers.

Install glibc-headers on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install glibc-headers using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install glibc-headers

Install glibc-headers on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install glibc-headers using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install glibc-headers

How To Uninstall glibc-headers on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the glibc-headers package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove glibc-headers
