How To Install glibc-devel on Rocky Linux 8

What is glibc-devel
The glibc-devel package contains the object files necessary for developing programs which use the standard C libraries (which are used by nearly all programs). If you are developing programs which will use the standard C libraries, your system needs to have these standard object files available in order to create the executables. Install glibc-devel if you are going to develop programs which will use the standard C libraries.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install glibc-devel
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install glibc-devel.
Install glibc-devel on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install glibc-devel
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install glibc-devel
Install glibc-devel on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install glibc-devel
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install glibc-devel
How To Uninstall glibc-devel on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the glibc-devel
