How To Install gitweb on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install gitweb on Kali Linux.
What is gitweb
gitweb is:
Git is popular version control system designed to handle very large projects with speed and efficiency; it is used for many high profile open source projects, most notably the Linux kernel.
Git falls in the category of distributed source code management tools. Every Git working directory is a full-fledged repository with full revision tracking capabilities, not dependent on network access or a central server.
This package configures a web interface for browsing git repositories.
If apache2 is installed, the web interface is automatically made available at http://localhost/gitweb. Other servers that support CGI or mod_perl are supported through manual configuration.
If libcgi-fast-perl is installed, gitweb can also be run over FastCGI (and served by nginx, for example).
There are three methods to install gitweb on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gitweb Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gitweb using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gitwebInstall gitweb Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gitweb using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gitweb using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gitwebHow To Uninstall gitweb on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gitweb package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gitwebUninstall gitweb And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gitweb and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gitwebRemove gitweb Configurations and Data
To remove gitweb configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gitwebRemove gitweb configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gitweb configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gitwebDependencies
