How To Install gitk on Kali Linux

on Kali Linux.
What is gitk
gitk is:
Git is popular version control system designed to handle very large projects with speed and efficiency; it is used for many high profile open source projects, most notably the Linux kernel.
Git falls in the category of distributed source code management tools. Every Git working directory is a full-fledged repository with full revision tracking capabilities, not dependent on network access or a central server.
This package provides the gitk program, a tcl/tk revision tree visualizer.
There are three methods to install gitk
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gitk Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gitk
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gitk

After updating apt database, We can install gitk
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gitk
Install gitk Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gitk
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gitk
How To Uninstall gitk on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gitk
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gitk
Uninstall gitk And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gitk
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gitk
Remove gitk Configurations and Data
To remove gitk
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gitk
