What is gitit

gitit is:

Gitit is a wiki backed by a git or darcs filestore. Pages and uploaded files can be modified either directly via the VCS’s command-line tools or through the wiki’s web interface. Pandoc is used for markup processing, so pages may be written in (extended) markdown, reStructuredText, LaTeX, HTML, or literate Haskell, and exported in ten different formats, including LaTeX, ConTeXt, DocBook, RTF, OpenOffice ODT, and MediaWiki markup.

Other features include

  • plugins: dynamically loaded page transformations written in Haskell;
  • categories;
  • support for Unicode;
  • TeX math using texmath;
  • syntax highlighting of source code files and code snippets using highlighting-kate;
  • wiki pages can be viewed as slide shows;

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install gitit using aptitude by running the following command:

How To Uninstall gitit on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the gitit package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gitit

To uninstall gitit and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gitit

Remove gitit Configurations and Data

To remove gitit configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gitit
