How To Install gip on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install gip
on Kali Linux.
What is gip
gip is:
Gip provides system administrators with tools for IP address based calculations. For example, an administrator who needs to find out which IP prefix length equals the IP netmask 255.255.240.0, just types in the mask and gets the prefix length presented. But many more advanced calculations can be made. Gip can convert an address range into a list of prefix lengths. It can also split subnets using a given IP netmask or IP prefix length. Many more calculations are possible.
There are three methods to install gip
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gip Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gip
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gip

After updating apt database, We can install gip

Install gip Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude

How To Uninstall gip on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gip
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gip

To uninstall gip
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gip
Remove gip Configurations and Data
To remove gip
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gip
