How To Install gimp on CentOS 7

on CentOS 7.
What is gimp
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a powerful image composition and editing program, which can be extremely useful for creating logos and other graphics for webpages. GIMP has many of the tools and filters you would expect to find in similar commercial offerings, and some interesting extras as well. GIMP provides a large image manipulation toolbox, including channel operations and layers, effects, sub-pixel imaging and anti-aliasing, and conversions, all with multi-level undo.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install gimp
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gimp.
Install gimp on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install gimp
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install gimp
Install gimp on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install gimp
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install gimp
How To Uninstall gimp on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the gimp
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove gimp
