What is gilmsg

gilmsg layers a reliability check in-band on top of the existing PUB-SUB fedmsg framework. Here’s how it works, broadly - When gilmsg.publish(...) is invoked, you must declare a list of required recipients. - A background thread is started that listens for ACK messages on the whole bus. - If an ACK is not received from all recipients within a given timeout, then a Timeout exception is raised.

We can use yum or dnf to install gilmsg on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gilmsg.

Install gilmsg on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install gilmsg using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install gilmsg

Install gilmsg on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install gilmsg using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install gilmsg

How To Uninstall gilmsg on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the gilmsg package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove gilmsg
