How To Install ghdl-tools on Debian 12

What is ghdl-tools
ghdl-tools is:
GHDL is a compiler and simulator for VHDL, a Hardware Description Language. GHDL is not an interpreter: it allows you to analyse and elaborate sources to generate machine code from your design. Native program execution is the only way for high speed simulation.
This package contains ghwdump, a simple command line tool to extract information from GHW files produced by GHDL and display it as text. It is mainly intended for use in debugging and is not needed for regular use of GHDL, where a wavefile visualization tool like gtkwave would normally be used.
There are three methods to install ghdl-tools on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ghdl-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ghdl-tools using apt-get by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ghdl-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ghdl-tools
How To Uninstall ghdl-tools on Debian 12
To uninstall only the ghdl-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ghdl-tools
Uninstall ghdl-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ghdl-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ghdl-tools
Remove ghdl-tools Configurations and Data
To remove ghdl-tools configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ghdl-tools
