In this tutorial we learn how to install ghc-hint on CentOS 7.
What is ghc-hint
This library defines an ‘Interpreter’ monad. It allows to load Haskell modules, browse them, type-check and evaluate strings with Haskell expressions and even coerce them into values. The library is thread-safe and type-safe (even the coercion of expressions to values). It is, esentially, a huge subset of the GHC API wrapped in a simpler API.
We can use yum or dnf to install ghc-hint on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ghc-hint.
Install ghc-hint on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ghc-hint using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install ghc-hint
Install ghc-hint on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ghc-hint using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install ghc-hint
How To Uninstall ghc-hint on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the ghc-hint package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove ghc-hint
