How To Install gftp-common on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gftp-common on Kali Linux.
What is gftp-common
gftp-common is:
gFTP is a multithreaded FTP client. This package contains the locale data used by both gftp-gtk and gftp-text, along with a common manual page.
gFTP features:
- simultaneous downloads,
- resuming of interrupted file transfers,
- file transfer queues,
- downloading of entire directories,
- FTP and HTTP proxy support,
- remote directory caching,
- passive and non-passive file transfers,
- drag-n-drop support,
- bookmarks menu,

There are three methods to install gftp-common on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gftp-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gftp-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gftp-commonInstall gftp-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gftp-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gftp-commonInstall gftp-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gftp-common using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gftp-commonHow To Uninstall gftp-common on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gftp-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gftp-commonUninstall gftp-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gftp-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gftp-commonRemove gftp-common Configurations and Data
To remove gftp-common configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gftp-commonRemove gftp-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gftp-common configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gftp-commonDependencies
