How To Install gfmd on Ubuntu 22.04

gfmd is:
The Gfarm file system is designed to turn commodity PCs into nodes of a distributed storage network, implementing the Grid Datafarm architecture for global petascale data-intensive computing. It solves performance and reliability problems in NFS and AFS by means of multiple file replicas, and not only prevents performance degradation due to access concentration, but also supports fault tolerance and disaster recovery.
This package provides the Gfarm metadata server, which equips a host to function as a server node managing file system metadata.
There are three methods to install gfmd on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gfmd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gfmd using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gfmd
Install gfmd Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gfmd using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gfmd
Install gfmd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gfmd using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gfmd
How To Uninstall gfmd on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the gfmd package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gfmd
Uninstall gfmd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gfmd and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gfmd
Remove gfmd Configurations and Data
To remove gfmd configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gfmd
Remove gfmd configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gfmd configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gfmd
