In this tutorial we learn how to install gfal2-util on CentOS 7.

What is gfal2-util

gfal2-util is a set of basic utility tools for file interactions and file copy based on the GFAL 2.0 toolkit. gfal2-util supports the protocols of GFAL 2.0 gridFTP, http(s), SRM, xrootd, etc…

We can use yum or dnf to install gfal2-util on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gfal2-util.

Install gfal2-util on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install gfal2-util using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install gfal2-util

Install gfal2-util on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install gfal2-util using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install gfal2-util

How To Uninstall gfal2-util on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the gfal2-util package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove gfal2-util
