How To Install getdns-utils on Ubuntu 18.04

What is getdns-utils
getdns-utils is:
getdns is a modern asynchronous DNS API. It implements DNS entry points from a design developed and vetted by application developers, in an API specification edited by Paul Hoffman. This API intends to offer application developers a modernized and flexible way to access DNS security (DNSSEC) and other powerful new DNS features; a particular hope is to inspire application developers towards innovative security solutions in their applications.
This package contains getdns-query utility.
There are three methods to install getdns-utils on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install getdns-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install getdns-utils using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install getdns-utils
Install getdns-utils Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install getdns-utils using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install getdns-utils
Install getdns-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install getdns-utils using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install getdns-utils
How To Uninstall getdns-utils on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the getdns-utils package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove getdns-utils
Uninstall getdns-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall getdns-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove getdns-utils
Remove getdns-utils Configurations and Data
To remove getdns-utils configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge getdns-utils
Remove getdns-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove getdns-utils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge getdns-utils
