What is geda-utils
geda-utils is:
The gEDA project has produced and continues working on a full GPL’d suite and toolkit of Electronic Design Automation tools. These tools are used for electrical circuit design, schematic capture, simulation, prototyping, and production. Currently, the gEDA project offers a mature suite of free software applications for electronics design, including schematic capture, attribute management, bill of materials (BOM) generation, netlisting into over 20 netlist formats, analog and digital simulation, and printed circuit board (PCB) layout.
This package contains miscellaneous utilities related to gEDA.
There are three methods to install geda-utils
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install geda-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install geda-utils
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install geda-utils

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install geda-utils
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install geda-utils
Install geda-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install geda-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install geda-utils
How To Uninstall geda-utils on Debian 10
To uninstall only the geda-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove geda-utils
Uninstall geda-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall geda-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove geda-utils
Remove geda-utils Configurations and Data
To remove geda-utils
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge geda-utils
