How To Install gearhead2 on Ubuntu 20.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install gearhead2
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is gearhead2
gearhead2 is:
Set a century and a half after nuclear war, you can explore a world where various factions compete to determine the future of the human race. Major features include random plot generation, a detailed character system, and over two hundred customizable mecha designs.
GearHead 2 is set five years after the events of GearHead 1. It is currently under development and is initially set in the L5 Orbital Pattern.
This is the console version. For graphics, use gearhead2-sdl instead.
There are three methods to install gearhead2
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gearhead2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gearhead2
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gearhead2
Install gearhead2 Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gearhead2
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gearhead2
Install gearhead2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gearhead2
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gearhead2
How To Uninstall gearhead2 on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the gearhead2
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gearhead2
Uninstall gearhead2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gearhead2
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gearhead2
Remove gearhead2 Configurations and Data
To remove gearhead2
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gearhead2
Remove gearhead2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gearhead2
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gearhead2
