GeanyCtags adds a simple support for generating and querying ctags files for a Geany project.
Even though Geany supports symbol definition searching by itself within the open files (and with a plugin support within the whole project), tag regeneration can become too slow for really big projects. This is why this plugin was created. It makes it possible to generate the tag file only once and just query it when searching for a particular symbol definition/declaration. This approach is fine for big projects where most of the codebase remains unchanged and the tag positions remain more or less static.
Geany is a small and lightweight integrated development environment using the Gtk+ toolkit.
There are three methods to install geany-plugin-ctags on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update

Install geany-plugin-ctags Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install geany-plugin-ctags using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install geany-plugin-ctags
How To Uninstall geany-plugin-ctags on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the geany-plugin-ctags package we can use the following command:

To uninstall geany-plugin-ctags and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

To remove geany-plugin-ctags configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge geany-plugin-ctags
Remove geany-plugin-ctags configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove geany-plugin-ctags configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge geany-plugin-ctags
