What is gdbm-devel
Gdbm-devel contains the development libraries and header files for gdbm, the GNU database system. These libraries and header files are necessary if you plan to do development using the gdbm database. Install gdbm-devel if you are developing C programs which will use the gdbm database library. You’ll also need to install the gdbm package.
We can use yum or dnf to install gdbm-devel on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gdbm-devel.
Install gdbm-devel on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install gdbm-devel using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install gdbm-devel
Install gdbm-devel on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install gdbm-devel using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install gdbm-devel

To uninstall only the gdbm-devel package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove gdbm-devel
