How To Install gdb-minimal on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install gdb-minimal on Kali Linux.
What is gdb-minimal
gdb-minimal is:
GDB is a source-level debugger, capable of breaking programs at any specific line, displaying variable values, and determining where errors occurred. Currently, gdb supports C, C++, D, Objective-C, Fortran, Java, OpenCL C, Pascal, assembly, Modula-2, Go, and Ada. A must-have for any serious programmer.
This package contains a minimal version of GDB with optional features disabled.
There are three methods to install gdb-minimal on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gdb-minimal Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gdb-minimal using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gdb-minimalInstall gdb-minimal Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gdb-minimal using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gdb-minimalInstall gdb-minimal Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gdb-minimal using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gdb-minimalHow To Uninstall gdb-minimal on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gdb-minimal package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gdb-minimalUninstall gdb-minimal And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gdb-minimal and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gdb-minimalRemove gdb-minimal Configurations and Data
To remove gdb-minimal configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gdb-minimalRemove gdb-minimal configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gdb-minimal configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gdb-minimalDependencies
