How To Install gconf2 on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gconf2 on Kali Linux.
What is gconf2
gconf2 is:
GConf is a configuration database system for storing application preferences. It supports default or mandatory settings set by the administrator, and changes to the database are instantly applied to all running applications. It is written for the GNOME desktop but doesn’t require it.
This package contains the command line tools: gconftool and gconf-merge-tree.
This package is for legacy applications and no longer used by GNOME.
There are three methods to install gconf2 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gconf2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gconf2 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gconf2Install gconf2 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gconf2 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gconf2Install gconf2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gconf2 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gconf2How To Uninstall gconf2 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gconf2 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gconf2Uninstall gconf2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gconf2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gconf2Remove gconf2 Configurations and Data
To remove gconf2 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gconf2Remove gconf2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gconf2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gconf2Dependencies
