In this tutorial we learn how to install gccxml on CentOS 7.

What is gccxml

There is one open-source C++ parser, the C++ front-end to GCC, which is currently able to deal with the language in its entirety. The purpose of the GCC-XML extension is to generate an XML description of a C++ program from GCC’s internal representation. Since XML is easy to parse, other development tools will be able to work with C++ programs without the burden of a complicated C++ parser.

We can use yum or dnf to install gccxml on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install gccxml.

Install gccxml on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install gccxml using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install gccxml

Install gccxml on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install gccxml using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install gccxml

How To Uninstall gccxml on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the gccxml package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove gccxml
