How To Install gap-smallgrp on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gap-smallgrp
on Debian 10.
What is gap-smallgrp
gap-smallgrp is:
GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with particular emphasis on Computational Group Theory. GAP provides a programming language, a library of thousands of functions implementing algebraic algorithms written in the GAP language as well as large data libraries of algebraic objects. GAP is used in research and teaching for studying groups and their representations, rings, vector spaces, algebras, combinatorial structures, and more.
The GAP Small Groups Library is a catalogue of groups of `small’ order. This package contains the groups data and identification routines for groups of order up to 1000 except 512, 768 and groups whose order factorises in at most 3 primes.
Note that data for order 512, 768 and between 1000 and 2000 except 1024, and some larger orders are available separately in the gap-smallgrp-extra packages.
There are three methods to install gap-smallgrp
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gap-smallgrp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gap-smallgrp
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gap-smallgrp
Install gap-smallgrp Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gap-smallgrp
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gap-smallgrp
Install gap-smallgrp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gap-smallgrp
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gap-smallgrp
How To Uninstall gap-smallgrp on Debian 10
To uninstall only the gap-smallgrp
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gap-smallgrp
Uninstall gap-smallgrp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gap-smallgrp
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gap-smallgrp
Remove gap-smallgrp Configurations and Data
To remove gap-smallgrp
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gap-smallgrp
Remove gap-smallgrp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gap-smallgrp
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gap-smallgrp
Dependencies
gap-smallgrp have the following dependencies:
