How To Install gap-factint on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install gap-factint on Kali Linux. gap-factint is advanced methods for factoring integers for GAP

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install gap-factint on Kali Linux.

What is gap-factint

gap-factint is:

GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra with particular emphasis on computational group theory, but which has already proved useful also in other areas.

This package brings to GAP routines for factoring integers, in particular:

  • Pollard’s p-1
  • Williams’ p+1
  • Elliptic Curves Method (ECM)
  • Continued Fraction Algorithm (CFRAC)
  • Multiple Polynomial Quadratic Sieve (MPQS)

It also provides access to Richard P. Brent’s tables of factors of integers of the form b^k +/- 1.

There are three methods to install gap-factint on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gap-factint Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gap-factint using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gap-factint

Install gap-factint Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gap-factint using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gap-factint

Install gap-factint Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gap-factint using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gap-factint

How To Uninstall gap-factint on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the gap-factint package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gap-factint

Uninstall gap-factint And Its Dependencies

To uninstall gap-factint and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gap-factint

Remove gap-factint Configurations and Data

To remove gap-factint configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gap-factint

Remove gap-factint configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gap-factint configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gap-factint

Dependencies

gap-factint have the following dependencies:
