How To Install gap-crystcat on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install gap-crystcat on Kali Linux. gap-crystcat is GAP CrystCat - The crystallographic groups catalog

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install gap-crystcat on Kali Linux.

What is gap-crystcat

gap-crystcat is:

GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with particular emphasis on Computational Group Theory. GAP provides a programming language, a library of thousands of functions implementing algebraic algorithms written in the GAP language as well as large data libraries of algebraic objects. GAP is used in research and teaching for studying groups and their representations, rings, vector spaces, algebras, combinatorial structures, and more.

This package provides a catalog of crystallographic groups of dimensions 2, 3, and 4 which covers most of the data contained in the book Crystallographic groups of four-dimensional space by H. Brown, R. B?low, J. Neub?ser, H. Wondratschek, and H. Zassenhaus (John Wiley, New York, 1978). Methods for the computation with these groups are provided by the package Cryst, which must be installed as well. This package was written by Volkmar Felsch and Franz G?hler.

There are three methods to install gap-crystcat on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install gap-crystcat Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install gap-crystcat using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install gap-crystcat

Install gap-crystcat Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install gap-crystcat using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install gap-crystcat

Install gap-crystcat Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install gap-crystcat using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install gap-crystcat

How To Uninstall gap-crystcat on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the gap-crystcat package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove gap-crystcat

Uninstall gap-crystcat And Its Dependencies

To uninstall gap-crystcat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove gap-crystcat

Remove gap-crystcat Configurations and Data

To remove gap-crystcat configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge gap-crystcat

Remove gap-crystcat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove gap-crystcat configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gap-crystcat
