How To Install gap-core on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install gap-core on Kali Linux.
What is gap-core
gap-core is:
GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with particular emphasis on Computational Group Theory. GAP provides a programming language, a library of thousands of functions implementing algebraic algorithms written in the GAP language as well as large data libraries of algebraic objects. GAP is used in research and teaching for studying groups and their representations, rings, vector spaces, algebras, combinatorial structures, and more.
This package contains the core GAP system.
There are three methods to install gap-core on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gap-core Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gap-core using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gap-coreInstall gap-core Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gap-core using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gap-coreInstall gap-core Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install gap-core using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gap-coreHow To Uninstall gap-core on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the gap-core package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gap-coreUninstall gap-core And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gap-core and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gap-coreRemove gap-core Configurations and Data
To remove gap-core configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gap-coreRemove gap-core configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gap-core configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gap-coreDependencies
