How To Install gap-autodoc on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install gap-autodoc on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is gap-autodoc
gap-autodoc is:
GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with particular emphasis on Computational Group Theory. GAP provides a programming language, a library of thousands of functions implementing algebraic algorithms written in the GAP language as well as large data libraries of algebraic objects. GAP is used in research and teaching for studying groups and their representations, rings, vector spaces, algebras, combinatorial structures, and more.
This package is used to generate documentation directly from GAP source code.
There are three methods to install gap-autodoc on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install gap-autodoc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install gap-autodoc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install gap-autodoc
Install gap-autodoc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install gap-autodoc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install gap-autodoc
Install gap-autodoc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install gap-autodoc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install gap-autodoc
How To Uninstall gap-autodoc on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the gap-autodoc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove gap-autodoc
Uninstall gap-autodoc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall gap-autodoc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove gap-autodoc
Remove gap-autodoc Configurations and Data
To remove gap-autodoc configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge gap-autodoc
Remove gap-autodoc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove gap-autodoc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge gap-autodoc
