What is fvwm-icons

fvwm-icons is:

This package contains small icons for use with window manager menus. The icons include generic symbols (balls, books, hexagons) and descriptive icons for programs (file manager, netscape logo etc.). Note, that these icons are quite basic and do not include any shadow effects.

Originally the icons were for FVWM which is a small memory footprint ICCCM2 compliant multiple virtual desktop window manager.

There are three methods to install fvwm-icons on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install fvwm-icons Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install fvwm-icons using apt by running the following command:

Install fvwm-icons Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install fvwm-icons using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install fvwm-icons

How To Uninstall fvwm-icons on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the fvwm-icons package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove fvwm-icons

Uninstall fvwm-icons And Its Dependencies

To uninstall fvwm-icons and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove fvwm-icons

Remove fvwm-icons Configurations and Data

To remove fvwm-icons configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge fvwm-icons

Remove fvwm-icons configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove fvwm-icons configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fvwm-icons
