In this tutorial we learn how to install fts-server on CentOS 7.

What is fts-server

The FTS server is a service which accepts transfer jobs, it exposes a RESTful interface. The File Transfer Service allows also for querying and canceling transfer-jobs. The authentication and authorization is VOMS based. Furthermore, the service provides a mechanism that dynamically adjust transfer parameters for optimal bandwidth utilization and allows for configuring so called VO-shares.

We can use yum or dnf to install fts-server on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install fts-server.

Install fts-server on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install fts-server using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install fts-server

Install fts-server on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install fts-server using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install fts-server

How To Uninstall fts-server on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the fts-server package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove fts-server
