How To Install freewnn-common on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is freewnn-common
freewnn-common is:
FreeWnn is a network-extensible Japanese/Chinese/Korean input system. It was jointly developed and released by the Software Research Group of Kyoto University Research Institute for Mathematical Science, OMRON Corporation and Astec, Inc. and now maintained by the FreeWnn Project.
This package contains files that are shared among the FreeWnn packages.
There are three methods to install freewnn-common
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install freewnn-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install freewnn-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install freewnn-common

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install freewnn-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install freewnn-common
Install freewnn-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install freewnn-common
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install freewnn-common
How To Uninstall freewnn-common on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the freewnn-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove freewnn-common
Uninstall freewnn-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall freewnn-common
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove freewnn-common
Remove freewnn-common Configurations and Data
To remove freewnn-common
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge freewnn-common
Remove freewnn-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove freewnn-common
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge freewnn-common
