How To Install freedink-engine on Debian 9

What is freedink-engine
freedink-engine is:
Dink Smallwood is an adventure/role-playing game, similar to Zelda, made by RTsoft. Besides twisted humor, it includes the actual game editor, allowing players to create hundreds of new adventures called Dink Modules or D-Mods for short.
GNU FreeDink is a new and portable version of the game engine, which runs the original game as well as its D-Mods, with close compatibility, under multiple platforms.
This package contains the game engine alone.
There are three methods to install freedink-engine
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install freedink-engine Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install freedink-engine
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install freedink-engine

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install freedink-engine
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install freedink-engine
Install freedink-engine Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install freedink-engine
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install freedink-engine
How To Uninstall freedink-engine on Debian 9
To uninstall only the freedink-engine
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove freedink-engine
Uninstall freedink-engine And Its Dependencies
To uninstall freedink-engine
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
