How To Install freebayes on Ubuntu 22.04

freebayes is:
FreeBayes is a Bayesian genetic variant detector designed to find small polymorphisms, specifically SNPs (single-nucleotide polymorphisms), indels (insertions and deletions), MNPs (multi-nucleotide polymorphisms), and complex events (composite insertion and substitution events) smaller than the length of a short-read sequencing alignment.
There are three methods to install freebayes on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install freebayes Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install freebayes using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install freebayes
Install freebayes Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install freebayes using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install freebayes
Install freebayes Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo apt-get -y autoremove freebayes
Remove freebayes Configurations and Data
To remove freebayes configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge freebayes
Remove freebayes configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove freebayes configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge freebayes
