How To Install fp-utils on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install fp-utils on Kali Linux.

What is fp-utils

fp-utils is:

The Free Pascal Compiler is an Object Pascal compiler supporting both Delphi and Turbo Pascal 7.0 dialects, as well as Mac Pascal dialects. It provides a completely portable RunTime Library (RTL) available on many platforms and compatible with Turbo Pascal, along with a platform-independent class-based Free Component Library (FCL) adding many Delphi extensions and interfacing with many popular open source libraries.

This dependency package always depends on the latest available version of the package containing some handy utilities for use with the Free Pascal Compiler:

• data2inc convert binary/text data to include files;
• fpcmake create Makefile from Makefile.fpc;
• h2pas convert .h files to Pascal units;
• plex/pyacc Pascal Lex and Yacc implementations;
• ppdep create a dependency file for use with Makefiles;
• ppudump dump the information stored in a .ppu (unit) file;
• ppufiles show needed files for units;

There are three methods to install fp-utils on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install fp-utils Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install fp-utils using apt-get by running the following command:

After updating apt database, We can install fp-utils using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install fp-utils

Install fp-utils Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install fp-utils using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install fp-utils

How To Uninstall fp-utils on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the fp-utils package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove fp-utils

Uninstall fp-utils And Its Dependencies

To uninstall fp-utils and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove fp-utils

Remove fp-utils Configurations and Data

To remove fp-utils configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge fp-utils

Remove fp-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove fp-utils configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fp-utils
