How To Install foxeye on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install foxeye
on Debian 10.
What is foxeye
foxeye is:
FoxEye is a multipurpose generic modular base to create clients or servers for client-server type networks such as IRC, ICQ, etc. All what you need to make an IRC bot or ICQ client is few modules that implement functionality you require. The FoxEye written in pure C with small resource requirements in mind.
This package contains main daemon and few modules. Available modules are: autolog, irc, irc-channel, irc-ctcp, ircd, logs, lua, modes, tcl, ziplink. With this set of modules FoxEye can serve two purposes:
- IRC bot (similar to Eggdrop);
- IRC server (ircd, RFC2810…2813 compliant). More purposes are under development now and third-party modules are available to create using foxeye-dev package.
There are three methods to install foxeye
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install foxeye Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install foxeye
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install foxeye
Install foxeye Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install foxeye
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install foxeye
Install foxeye Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install foxeye
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install foxeye
How To Uninstall foxeye on Debian 10
To uninstall only the foxeye
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove foxeye
Uninstall foxeye And Its Dependencies
To uninstall foxeye
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove foxeye
Remove foxeye Configurations and Data
To remove foxeye
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge foxeye
Remove foxeye configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove foxeye
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge foxeye
