What is fonts-ipafont

fonts-ipafont is:

IPA Fonts are JIS X 0213:2004 compliant OpenType fonts based on TrueType outlines provided by Information-technology Promotion Agency, Japan (IPA) from 2003. These are suitable for both display and printing.

This metapackage depends on fonts-ipafont-{mincho,gothic} packages to provide IPA Mincho, IPA P Mincho, IPA Gothic, and IPA P Gothic Fonts.

There are three methods to install fonts-ipafont on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install fonts-ipafont Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install fonts-ipafont using apt-get by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install fonts-ipafont using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install fonts-ipafont

How To Uninstall fonts-ipafont on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the fonts-ipafont package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove fonts-ipafont

Uninstall fonts-ipafont And Its Dependencies

To uninstall fonts-ipafont and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove fonts-ipafont

Remove fonts-ipafont Configurations and Data

To remove fonts-ipafont configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge fonts-ipafont

Remove fonts-ipafont configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove fonts-ipafont configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge fonts-ipafont
