In this tutorial we learn how to install fonts-inconsolata
on Debian 10.
What is fonts-inconsolata
fonts-inconsolata is:
Inconsolata is a monospace font, designed for code listings and the like, in print. There are a great many “programmer fonts,” designed primarily for use on the screen, but in most cases do not have the attention to detail for high resolution rendering.
The Fontforge .sfd and the Spiro .plate extended sources are available on the upstream website and in the source package. A Type1 version of the font is also available.

There are three methods to install fonts-inconsolata
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-inconsolata

After updating apt database, We can install fonts-inconsolata

Install fonts-inconsolata Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install fonts-inconsolata
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install fonts-inconsolata
How To Uninstall fonts-inconsolata on Debian 10
To uninstall only the fonts-inconsolata
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove fonts-inconsolata
Uninstall fonts-inconsolata And Its Dependencies
To uninstall fonts-inconsolata
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove fonts-inconsolata
Remove fonts-inconsolata Configurations and Data
To remove fonts-inconsolata
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge fonts-inconsolata
